We did it, ARMY! After weeks of hard work, we helped get BTS secure new Billboard Hot 100 records for 2021 as “Butter” snags its rightful position at No. 1 for a ninth non-consecutive week.
“Butter” is now the longest-running No. 1 song of 2021 on the Hot 100 chart so far.
It surpasses Olivia Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License,” which held an eight-week record, earlier this year.
For the charting week dated August 7, 2021, “Butter” clocked in a total of 30.5 million radio airplay audience impressions, 8.1 million U.S. streams, and 112,900 downloads sold this week.
It is also this week’s top-selling song, closely followed by “Permission To Dance” at No. 2, which also remains at No. 9 on the Hot 100 chart.
This latest feat also makes BTS the longest-running No. 1 artist and group on the Hot 100 this year, with a total of 10 consecutive weeks.
This includes the record-setting week of July 24, when the newly released “Permission To Dance” replaced “Butter” at the top of the chart, making BTS only the 14th act to replace themselves at No. 1.
Including their first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, “Dynamite,” which spent a total of five non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2020, BTS has now officially spent a combined total of 15 weeks on the top of the chart, making them the first Korean artist to do so.
Will we continue setting more Billboard Hot 100 records next week? Only one way to find out.
