Pearl ARMY group completes #HelpBuildAClassroom Project

Amidst all challenges, a #PearlARMY group called armyscart launched in November 2020 an ambitious project called #HelpBuildAClasroom, which aims to help Grade 1 students in Camarines Sur by giving them a proper facility that would aid in their learning once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

ARMY Connect PH spoke with Kate Chinneroth T. Argones, a grade school teacher who founded the organization about this noble undertaking, which all began from her and her partner’s respective selling accounts on Twitter.

1. Tell us about the #HelpBuildAClassroom project. What is it all about and what is its purpose?

The #HelpBuildAClassroom project is a fundraising event we organized to help raise funds for the construction of the Grade-I classroom of Quilomaon Elementary School, Kilomaon, Sagnay, Camarines Sur.

The new normal brought on by the pandemic also came with major challenges for everyone around the country, including increased poverty and inflation rates, as well as an economic depression, and death.

The Department of Education is severely affected as well—shifting from face-to-face learning to distance learning, from pen and paper to computer. With this, the department then shifted its priority to supporting the new normal by allocating major funds to supplies like modules, among others.

Despite this, we must continue one’s call. In this case, to continue beautifying our learner’s second home. With the hope that one day we’ll surpass the pandemic and everything will return to the former normal. For the hope of it all.

This is the fundamental reason behind the #HelpBuildAClassroom project—to address the major challenges that the Grade I students of Quilomaon Elementary School are facing, which could hinder their education and future.

A classroom construction is needed to fuel the necessary advances to reach the learner’s full potential and to get access to quality education.

Its purpose is to provide a safe, conducive, fun learning environment to students of Quilomaon Elementary School.

2. How and when did you come up with the idea for the project? Who are the people behind it?

My partner Yani and I organized a fundraising event last November 2020 called #TindogWithArmys to give aid to typhoon victims in Sagñay, Camarines Sur.

Just a quick back story, armyscart was originally our selling account, but because of the consecutive typhoons last year, we decided to launch a paid raffle event.

I did the same with the #HelpBuildAClassroom project. I gathered all my BTS merch collection that I was willing to give up and launched the same scheme last March 28, 2021.

The project was launched via the proponent’s main social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as the main medium.

A series of paid raffle events was introduced as the main activity of the project. A Google Form was provided to indicate the event’s mechanics and to collate responses of the benefactor’s name, Twitter username, contact number, slot number/s, date of payment, and proof of payment indicating that information collected will be used for the sole purpose of the project.

After slots were taken, winners were drawn via Wheel of Names, an online application that picks a random winner. It was screen recorded live and prizes were shipped with the proponent’s main partner courier, LBC.

A master list via Google Sheet was provided for transparency and was updated regularly to the benefactor’s perusal. The daily vlog was posted every 5:00 PM and figure updates every 9:00 PM. Documentations such as pictures, videos, vlogs, before, during, and after were regularly posted as well.

3. Who are the beneficiaries of the project?

The beneficiaries of the project are both the current and future Grade-I students in Quilomaon Elementary School.

4. Tell us about your organization. How and when was is it founded? What are your goals and objectives?

armyscart was founded last November 2020, derived from my (@tanniescart) and Yani’s (@armyspalette) accounts, which were separate selling accounts, before it transitioned to fundraising events for a cause.

Our goal is to create projects focusing on the field of education on behalf of BTS. We are set to rebrand by institutionalizing the account. We can’t wait to share with you the details very soon.

5. What kind of message do you want to send to our fellow #PearlARMYs through your projects?

The message we want to send to our fellow #PearlARMYs is that we, as #PearlARMY, are influential and we can do so much more with the platform that we have.

Despite the noise that surrounds us, I hope you do not get tired of creating projects on behalf of our seven lovely Ampanmen.

Just keep going and focus on doing the work because you’ll get there, sooner than later.

6. Given the chance that BTS gets to read about this project, what would you like to say to them about it?

If ever BTS gets the read this project, I would like them to be reminded that they are truly an artist for music and healing.

They are such an inspiration to many and that ARMYs will never leave their side.

I also want them to know that it was their music and artistry, their talent, their passion, and their work ethic that made them who they are and made ARMYs stay.

7. What other projects do you have lined up soon?

Right now, none. The focus is rebranding the organization then we’ll come back with more projects soon. You’ll be the first to know.

With hopes that the COVID-19 situation gets better soon, the newly built classroom at Quilomaon Elementary School awaits to meet its first batch of learners.
